Wonder how close it is to my non-vintage century. That thing sounds like old JB's..too loud for most of my use nowadays

according to the product page, the total weight of the speaker comes in a little heavier than the BN12-300S - 5.5lb vs 4.4lb.
    https://celestion.com/product/199/neo_250_copperback/
i am also curious about a comparison of these two speakers.

Want to know weight of motor magnets...
Both Eminence & Jensen openly list such for their speakers.
I emailed Dr Decibel in Ipswich and he ignored or misread my question and regurgitated gross weights as per on the Celestion website. VERY dissatisfied with such response so much so I think I'll buy the new EM12N and pass on the Neo Copperback.

Celestion doesn't appear to post the magnet weight specs for their Neo speakers specifically, nor for that of their alnico's (although I believe the alnico 12" speakers have a 40 oz. magnet - I could be mistaken). The total weight of the Copperback is a little greater than either the Century Vintage and Creamback Neo. I would presume that the extra weight is due to a slightly heavier magnet, considering the higher 100 dB efficiency of the Copperback. Perhaps the Neo magnet specs are a little more proprietary than "common knowledge" specs such as those for M/H ceramic magnets.

I wonder when the Copperback will be available and/or pricing?

i emailed Celestion last week about availability and pricing and this is what they said:
"We start shipping product next month (September) and the internet price will be $249."

What info are you after and I'll try to assist. I'm on here all the time and have a good reputation for assisting...and besides 14yrs at Celestion, I'm a certified gear nerd who gigs several nights per month around Austin TX. If I can find out, I'll tell you. RS

Yes they're going thru pilot run and then straigt into production. Regading weights and specs, yes we do keep certain info close and try not to broadcast it, but as mentioned on another post, I'll find out what I can and share it to the best of my ability. Rick

Thanks for the offer RS, not hating on you personally as I know you try to help

Already Pulled my BN12-300S and replaced with EM12N. Have a look at all the Speaker Data Eminence & Jensen publish openly on their websites...

The EM12N is about a pound heavier vs Copperback but I'll deal with it.

@KnowTalent, do you mind sharing why you're replacing your BN12-300s? that was actually at the top of my list due to how neutral the freq response appears to be on the product page since i'm using amp/cab modelling (which Quilter stated as a reason for using them in their cabs too), and because it appears to be cheaper and lighter than the Copperback will be.

Its flat that's for sure! I was looking for a bit more variation. Very lightweight & bassable

variation in what sense? more dynamics? about to pull the trigger on a couple of BN12-300S speakers, so want to make sure they're the right choice first...

Get some graph paper and plot WH150, EM12N, BN-12, & Neo 250 over each other and draw your own conclusions

There you go, as long as you're happy. We were not interested in cloning a EV (we tend to get cloned vs. clone others haha), so the Copperback is Celestion voiced, just with big headroon and no fizz, etc, this way the speaker will play well with OD pedals, or amp OD/distortion and offer the characteristics people like about a Celestion, whereas the EV is flat. Sometimes that is good, and sometimes it causes things to sound sterile. Again, as long as your happy with your tone, that's all that counts! :D

i've actually looked at all of those graphs pretty extensively, i was just asking what you meant by "a bit more variation" in my comment regarding replacing the BN12-300S.

Greater range of dB schwing 200-5khz iirc
I think the EMI pare avgs about 5-6 dB
while BN-12 avgs closer to 3

Celestion's website still says "Coming Soon"

I contacted Sweetwater about availability and haven't heard anything back yet.
