Seen some posting here that said these were brittle and harsh sounding.

Just put one in my Tweed Proluxe (30 watt Deluxe).

Sounds incredible! Just thought I'd try one out with concenrs about weight. I'm not getting any younger.

I was really suprised witht the Tone of this speaker considering I've had Eminence, two Webers, Mojo V30, Greenback, Jenson, and a couple more I cant even remember in it.

This is the speaker for this amp. I really liked the Mojo but it died. I really love the lightness.

I've got two Century Vintages on the way also. Gonna give em a try.

Th EQ Curve of this speaker ended up being perfect for this amp. It can be a little bass heavey. The resonanace starting at 80 wrather than 75 hz.

One happy camper. Dont get the harshness argument.

I used one in a variety of amps from the time they came out until maybe a year ago when I switched to the Jensen Neo. I really liked mine and I think it mellowed a bit with lots of playing. I also got lots of tone compliments from guys who know tone. At the time, I seemed to be one of the few who liked this speaker, though I do recall that Ed D was liking it in a 1 12 for awhile. To each his own, but these shouldn't be 'summarily dismissed'................. ;)

I can see how this post would look slanted because I work for Celestion, but I'm also a working player and a complete tone snob. I loaded my Matchless Chietain with two Century Vintage speakers a few weeks back and haven't looked back. They sound awesome and they made the amp much easier to transport.

Does the Jensen Neo sound kida Jenseny?

For instance with most of the Jensens I have played they sound gorgeous with clean sounds but get this fissy fuzzy sound on distortion.

However I'm talking new Jensens. I had a Marshall 4x12 back in the day that had two Greenbacks and two Jensen Blue Bells that was the bomb.

Thats whats slated for my 2x12. That thing is a bear to tote.

I had to order the G-12 Century and the Two Century Vintages from GC and I just got the Century but the Vintages are no where in sight.

Apparently I'm the first to ever buy them from GC in Atlanta.

I walked in there told em what I wanted and got this puzzeled look. Say Wha?

Hey fit 2 b I'm contemplating putting one in my Lonestar 1x12 combo though its rated at 100 watts. If I did I wouldnt crank it. I only use the 100 watt mode for cleans.

Would that thing thing hold up in it. That amp is extremly heavy.

We rate our speakers conservative, but that's a lot into a single 60 watt (rated) speaker. I would still say 'yes' with the caution that you're not running cranked all the time.

Rick, when you could only get them from the UK, and I can't remember the dealer at the moment, but the contact guy was Darin, or something like that....... I just got nowhere after multiple emails. I gave up and I liked the Century enough that I stopped trying.

Awe, I see. I just joined Celestion in March and I handle our OEM business west of the Mississippi. If you ever (or anyone) have that happen in the future, call me and I'll resolve it. Thanks!

As far as I know the Vintages would allready be here but Adam at GC said he ordered em with the wrong part number or sku and had to reorder since theyve never orded them before.

Cant wait to try em out though.

Got to play the Century some more and that thing is fine for my Tweed amp and it makes it 7-8 pounds lighter. According to the website. The funny thing about that amp is there are many speakers it dont like. I've tried a number of em that the high end sounds harsh but not with this one. It sounds awsome and I'm happy to say I finally found the speaker that fits that amp.

Kind of an odd couple though. A Tweed with a state of the art high tech speaker.

SP I'll report back soon as I get em.

The Century is 80 watts, and the Century Vintage is 60 watts.

OK I was talking about putting a Century in the Lonestar.

The Vintages are going in another amp. I need to call and check today and see if they came in.

Awesome! I used my Matchless Chieftain (with the Century Vintages') Friday and Saturday night and was really happy. We were in a good sized venue and the speaker was very mic friendly.
