Anyone using Celestion golds with a cranked Marshall. I have a old 50watt. Any comments?
I don't have a genuine, actual, official, authentic Marshall amp, BUT :
In a close enuff for classic rock vein I have
mid 60s' Traynor YBA-1 and a TopHat Emplexador - both 50 watt amps
that certainly cover the classic Marshall tones with aplomb.
Both sound (to my ears) VERY, VERY GOOD thru the Cele Golds .
Your ears might prefer a Greenback, H30 or others of course, but ..
I don't see why it would sound any else than magnificent! Seriously though, I have gold with my peters dual channel. Channel two is the classic overdrive and the gold kills with it. Clean and dirty.
I have a 4X12 Cameron Cab with the golds and running it with an ecstasy 101b and a Cameron modded 5150. It is truly amazing sounding. Very warm and smooth and has a lot more bass than I thought it would have before I started really breaking them in. I like it way better than my bogner 4X12 loaded with 2 H30's and 2 V30's. I cannot wait to hear the cameron cab with the 3 channel plexi that Mark Cameron is modding for me. That will be truly amazing!
The Golds sound great with a cranked Plexi Marshall. They add shimmer and harmonic complexity compared to ceramic magnet speakers. While still offering firm bass response and good treble they add to the great midrange of this amp.
I wonder how them Golds sound thru orange amps...OR120 or a Retro 50 or an RV50-100?
Cone cry will be worse than V30's. The cones are thin and don't react well to stress.
