Or do you still have to drill out the 4 extra mounting holes if needed?

I think that 4 holes are enough. It is not necessary to drill some holes to a speaker. I think there is not 8 holes version of Vintage 30...

The WarehouseGuitarSpeakers version of the Vintage 30 (called the Veteran 30) is excellent, costs less and comes with 8 mounting holes.

I remember putting one in a DRRI that had the 8 mounting poles and so had to drill the extra four holes. Good suggestion on the Vet 30.

If the problem is that the cabinet has 8 pegs, I'd just take out the extra 4.

WGS Veteran 30 is TOTALLY different to Vintage 30.
