Anyone tried this combination of speakers?
Yes, I have it in my Bogner OS212 I use with my 20th Shiva and it sounds amazing. Way better than the two v30s that came in the cab to me. The Creamback adds a lot of thickness to the mids and makes it a little more vintage sounding.
Agree, I have it in my Koch 2x12 Cab. Nice combination.
Yes, I had a V30 and Greenback in a 2x12, then tried a Creamback M and found I like it MUCH better- they work well together. The amp is a Dirty Shirley Mini.
I'm so glad! Thank you guys for responding! Is there any way you guys could record something for me?I'm really curious what the combined distortion sounds like.
isn't the creamback overpowered by the v30?
No, I was worried about that but they occupy different frequencies and really compliment each other.
I have 2 Cream back 65s in my Bogner 212CB. It sounds fabulous. I would actually like to try a v30 mixed in there and see how things sound.
Too bad it's a royal pain to change speakers in that cabinet!
Here you go, the combined sound is towards the end of the video.
That video is excellent!
My Bogner Helios OS212 came with that combination. It's a good combination. I pulled it out and tried a combo with the new Fane Ascension F70 and F90. Didn't care for that too much. Then I tried a few other combinations, but ended up with a G12-65 Heritage and a Scumback M75LD. Liked it so much that I soldered them in!
But the V30/Creamback 65 is a nice vintage toned cabinet for sure.
Really? Not at all. Easy as pie. Unscrew the back (yes there are a lot of screws) Remove the jack, in solder the huge wires but other than that, pretty standard, no?
That's it but compared to my other cabs that don't require soldering it's a much bigger pain. If I were traveling around the country though with my amp I'm sure I would appreciate it.
'tis true! Mine is out and about every week at gigs with me so I don't mind it being soldered. Now heating up those heavy gauge wires is another story! Lol!
Thanks so much! That sounds like the speakers really support each other in making the sound.
If anyone else wants to send me something recorded, I'd still love to hear it with a few different licks and things. Just for kicks.
v30 and any other 65 g1265 h75 sound good to me
Thanks for posting that clip! Sounds good.
I have a Creamback and a Scumback M75 in a 2x12 Bassman cab. It sounds great!
I think the video above is a great example of how well the V30 sounds recorded. In the rehearsal room, on it's own it can sound "in your face" because of the extended mid spike. That spike is what get's captured so brilliantly when there's a mic in front of it. Awesome video. Personally, I like the V30 and G1265 equally on their own as well as together.
Quick question: For those who run this mix in a 2X12, do you like them open or closed back?
Cool video that Jim posted, I dig the V30's or the mix of them too. Watch some of his other clips tho'. He makes 'em all sound good! I flip flop to whatever the last one of his I watched, lol.
That's a great combination. They really compliment each other. I would really like to get a 65 creamback to mix in my cab. I'm currently doing it with V30's and WGS ET65's. Not the same but a similar vibe.
