So, I've been doing a lot of research on this amp and I can't deny the fact the great sounding tones coming from the amp are REAL. I've spent hours analyzing the tones from the 20 or so youtube vids and I'm very impressed. This amp puts out some really great lead tones and my mouth was watering as I fantasized about owning one someday.

Meanwhile, I've been in contact with Nik at Ceriatone and he's nothing but the BEST with replies to questions. I'm not sure how busy he is building amps, but he deserves tons of credit in the customer service arena.

I plan to use this amp for my lead tones. I've already got the clean tones covered with my TR Classic Reverb. I've been trying to use pedals for the dumble type leads, but pedals can only get you so far. So close...but no cigar.

Well, the lead time is 2 months so it's time to twiddle my thumbs until it gets here!

I have one and I'm very happy with it. I'd say it's well worth the wait.

Does that mean that you actually haven't tried or heard it IRL ????

You bought the best value for a D-Tone on the market today. With a little tweaking you will be completely rewarded.

I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised at the cleans (as well as the OD). They far exceeded my expectations by a considerable amount.

You're right, Nik responds to emails faster than any other vendor I've dealt with. I would email on a weekend, expecting maybe an answer by Monday or Tuesday, but he'd respond within minutes.....and this happened consistently! Delivery from Malaysia was also faster than from vendors in the states a few hundred miles away. He runs a top notch operation for sure.

$1300 delivered to your door, is not bad at all.

Add about $3 in a couple of caps and resistors and there is not much out there that come close, or leave it alone it's perfectly fine.

You should try one, and be impressed.

I want one too but I am thinking of waiting until he is offering the HRM models. Of course I dont really know if there is a true benefit but everyone says to get the HRM. Any thoughts???

The HRM is way over hyped. You can always take the standard model and modify it for the HRM circuit. It's not that difficult and that way you can make the decision.

My understanding is that it is basically the same but the overdrive has its own eq trim pots so you can have one eq setting for clean and a separate one for the clean channel.

Mine is stock and sounds OK. Its my playing which needs improving...:)

I'm too lazy to pick up a soldering iron and begin changing components. There are other variables affecting how an amp sounds: tubes, guitars, pickups, speaker, individual picking technique...

Also, if I "voice" my amp to one guitar, will it sound ok with another?

For example. when I got the Ceriatone Overtone, a number of people told me things like "D-amps typicall work well with humbucker guitars". That turned my off a bit, since I love my Telecasters, but after a few experiments I was quite happy with the tone I was getting with (see below).

All of the samples below have been made with the same amp (no internal tweaks). I find the amp is quite versatile and can give me a lot of different tones. Consider that they are youtube 48kps (+ "free compression";) ) quality.

Could it sounds better? Sure, every amp can be "improved".
Is it perfect? Hell no...but which amp is perfect?

Could I get someone to "tweak it to my taste"? Probably, if I knew what my specific taste was!:jo:NUTS:D

I am sure price has something to with it. For 1000 Euro's, I don't expect an amp to be "perfect", for 5000$ I probably would....

Wow! Maybe Nik needs to hire some more help. Business appears to be good for him.

He has always been prompt and friendly replying to my questions too. :AOK

where did Nik got the dumble schematics to make his clones? Or did he actually have a real dumble to copy?

Despite the fact that D-styles are often tweaked to an individual's taste, to date I have had no desire to change a thing on the Overtone, other than twist the knobs on the front panel for different guitars. The taper of the EQ and the gain is the smoothest and most forgiving of just about any amp I've played. Like most D's, it loves an EVM12L too.

I can't wait to get the amp!! I'm ordering the amp with the tubes included, but I've also got some SED winged C and tungsol 12ax7s waiting to be tested in this amp as well. Biasing is simple with this amp so this will be tons o'fun.

The money aspect is what really turned me to this amp. Great tones for 1/5 of another TR. and probably 1/1,456 of a real dumble.

I'm thinking for ordering a TR sig cab for this amp since they do really well with dumble sounds. I've got a TR sig cab for my classic but it's got different speakers in it.
