Now that Reverb is owned by Etsy, I wonder if these new “rules” at Etsy will be applied to Reverb?

Etsy tells sellers it’s going to advertise their goods and take a big cut of the sale

Major sellers can’t opt out of the program

When did Reverb sell to Etsy? I'm so behind the times...

You probably missed the news that Tesla bought Etsy too. They want to get a piece of the flower print seat covers.

Did anyone else notice that in the new formatting on desktop it doesnt show how long a product has been listed?
It still shows on mobile app... but not on the website. Frustrating.

Well, if Reverb goes full on stupid then I'll just shop or sell elsewhere. No need to get pimped when selling or burnt when buying.

That’s part of what “bumped” sales are with Reverb. If you bump your sale and pay 2-5% more of the sale price then your listing gets included in external advertising. So right now it’s available and optional. I almost always bump my sales, unless it’s a very common item already priced to sell that’s going to get views on its own.

If you have something esoteric that people aren’t actively searching for then bumping can keep it from languishing on there for months on end.

I think what Etsy is doing is quite different. Bumps on Reverb don’t cost you 12% of your sales and shipping costs.

I think it’s time for somebody to come up with Flanger.com or Delay.com

The difference with Etsy’s program is that you only pay the 12% from sales that directly result from the external ad. With bumping on Reverb you pay the bump fee no matter how the seller finds you. Otherwise it’s basically the same thing.

If they raise the rates to 12% that will be the end of Reverb.com as we know it....that would be a foolish move as it would drive a lot of sellers back to eBay.

But do Reverb’s seller fees (incl bump fee) add up to 12%?
Also, if you bump on Reverb for awhile and it doesn’t sell, and then you remove the bump, then you don’t get charged the bump fee if it sells.

Did you read the announcement? You can opt out if your annual sales are less than $10k. Or you can quit using Etsy. Also, none of this currently applies to Reverb (other than bumping, which they already do and works great btw) so I’m not sure where the hand wringing is coming from.
