That Charvel on the top is sweet. There is a vintage Ibanez that has a similar vibe to these.
I love the old Jacksons and Charvels. Growing up a friend’s dad had one that he believed to be a prototype. It looked like Korina wood but with the toothpaste logo I think. I wish I had pics of it.
I’ve been thinking of saving up for a USA Jackson but I’ve only begun to figure out what to look for.
Another one from the vault. This one appears in the original sales marketing book which contains a bunch of poloroids of very early Charvels. Pot code dates to 17th week of 1980.
Thanks for sharing Ralph. Love the blue & green catalog guitar. And the flametop too.
Thanks and that guitar in your avatar is real nice too. I had a TV Model years ago. So freakin cool.
Pre-Pro Charvel MADNESS, wow, quite a collection. Any Charvel-head knows that first guitar and one if my all time favorites. Great grab.
I have one Charvel left, a parts guitar with an '82 Strathead neck and Redlands Charvel #117 Strat body, original donor Floyd from a old Kramer Focus. Once I built this axe I sold off my other Charvels and Jacksons.
Very cool stuff, thanks for sharing and enjoy!
And last but not least the ultimate design that gave life to Charvel in the first place.
When I worked at Veneman' those striped guitars were under $600.
I think that's about what the original owner paid, he bought it when he was in college.
Great collection Ralph indeed
I've got a couple and love old Charvel/Jackson guitars.
Here's my '85 "Last in Line"
'85 Jackson "wood burn" Dinky:
These last two belong to a buddy of mine (who has nearly 100 Charvel/Jackson guitars from '78-'86. Not exaggerating) and he lets me play borrow some, on occasion:
100 Charvels and Jacksons?!?! Wow. Get him on here to post some photos
Is that Traci who has the collection? If so he should be on here as he’s an encyclopedia of Charvel and Jackson info! Heck anyone with that many should be in here!!!
I'll check with him to see if it's cool to post pics. I have a lot of pics from the last time I hung out with him. He's got stuff previously owned by some 80's celebs, custom one-off stuff, and pretty rare stuff like Charvel V's and Explorers. Amazing stuff. The best are all the EVH stratheads!
No, it's not Tracy, although he is a hardcore collector as well.
Is this guy in PA by chance? I’d love to know who this is and see some of the more rare Charvels!
Happy Holidays all!
He's in Chicago- I'll get in touch with him and ask if it's cool to post pics of his guitars.
I bought mine at Venemans, but those were a few years earlier
Mine was $750 w/case
That Jackson Woodburn Dinky is awesome! I have been trying to find an old Strathead Jackson forever.
'82 solid maple mutt/emp build thing I restored a few years ago.
