A slight highjack, but props to another new looper / delay: the Expedition Electronics 60 Second Delay, based on the EHX 16 Second Delay and Robert Fripp's loop / delay system called Frippertronics.

The reason that I am posting here is the 60 Second Delay seems to have some of the same functionality as Blooper. I got mine a few weeks ago and only had a few minutes to play with it, but it was extremely fun. It doesn't have the same icy sheen that the Blooper seems to have, which reminds me of the Cooper FX Outward.

Practically speaking, if you couple the 60 Second Delay or Blooper with Ableton Live, I think that is the key for creating music... melodic songs, vs. useless wash. It's a different kind of experimental jam-based composition, but we have gotten great results from playing around with effects and instruments, recording in Ableton and using loops and chunks as the springboard for new sonic worlds that we wouldn't play if we were in a conventional band situation.

Saying that one kind of music isn't "musical" is precisely a judgment.
Nothing wrong with judging music—that's what a person with a certain
taste in music does—they judge what is or isn't "music" or, more accurately,
they make a judgment about whether something is or isn't to their tastes.

Just because you can't find a use for something doesn't make it useless.

Not only are there different tools and instruments for different people,
often people use the same instruments in different ways.

Although deep down I think you know exactly what I was asking. ‘Musical’ was in quotes to imply something classically so. I love ambient music. And even experimental noise rock.

I did respond to what you were asking. You didn't write "something more straightforward",
you wrote "something that sounds more 'musical'".

Since pretty much the only people who have played the pedal are those
who are in some way involved with developing the pedal, it seems like
their "musical approach" is from a certain angle. Until the pedal is available
to different musicians with different "musical" approaches, I would say that
it's hard to know what the limits and scope of its application in making "music"
    might be.

Yes, you're asking for something more "normal," more "common," you know - "musical."

I think that "musical" is a bull$#it description. I hope you find what you're looking for.

You can definitely use it as a 'basic' looper.
But 8 levels of undo/redo are pretty unique.

I only see thoughtful responses to your post so far. You chose terms that can be misunderstood, or be divisive, so the focus has been on clarification.

I will be there at the weekend. Maybe I can make a short video of the blooper prototype.

Already starting to put a little $ away to save for this! I'm in a trio for the first time, and our bass player is out for a few weeks with a medical issue so I've been doing more looping with a basic Ditto pedal and have (re)discovered the joys of looping and now want to start manipulating these more in real time- I'm really tempted to start using Ableton Live (went through a period of doing some electronic-based music with people w/ synching Live through different laptops etc., and man, the logistical issues with setting this up for a show drove me crazy - computer failures, PA connectivity issues in some clubs, volume issues and on and on). I still don't know what the Blooper is going to do, exactly, but based on my other CBA pedals I'm pretty confident this will nail a lot of what I want - to be able to use loops in real time to play the loops like an instrument. I haven't gone down the looping pedal rabbit-hole with other brands, but if the Blooper is the same size as other CBA pedals, I'm ready to jump in almost blind here!
