cheap boost pedals that sound expensive

    There are some really great and really expensive boost pedals made in the last couple years. Who's has a cheap one that'll give them a run for the money?

    Depends on what you mean by boost. IMO a boost is any pedal that adds volume. Boosts can be clean meaning they add no distortion of their own or dirty meaning they DO add some distortion.

    By that definition almost ANY pedal can be considered a boost including OD/dist pedals, clean boosts, compressors, volume pedals etc.

    What does boost mean to you?

    Some compressors have a great deal of DB ....
    One of the ways the Boss compressor has been used for years ..
    As a very clean, EQ-able boost ....

    a good friend of mine and excellent guitarist swears by the seymour duncan pick up booster. never tried it myself, i've got a bad bob boost on the way. and used they are only a couple bucks more than the sd.

    I also think you may consider a Bad Monkey with gain low and vol cranked.

    I have a couple of boutique boosts but I am always amazed at how great my old Boss GE7 EQ pedal works as a simple boost.
