I wanted something unique and Fred had just a little bit of this blue tolex left, so here's what we came up with. He had enough left to do another 1x12 combo, but this it for the head/cab setup. My old head and cab is the cream and dark blue one pictured on the website (fot the FTR37). I just wanted something a bit more lively!

    That is very cool.

...so if I understand right, you just ordered new cabs and stuck the old amp and speakers in there?

How long did it take to get them?

A couple of weeks. I love the amp so much that it's actually solved my GAS, but I didn't dig the old color combo. So now it's like having a new rig at a fraction of the cost!

Sweet! Fred and I talked about doing that, but I couldn't think of any good color combos, other than black and tan. Yours turned out great!

Thanks guys! We did a concert in the park for the City of Norwalk tonight and it looked very cool under the lights.....oh, and it sounded great too!:dude

Fred's tolex guy is top notch and I could not be happier with it. Especially since he used the last of this particular blue to complete it which makes it somewhat unique I suppose.

Now only if I put this much effort into my playing.......oh well, I still get paid!!!!! :D

Being the gassy guy I am, I sold it. It was killer, but just not the sound I was after. Besides my Lightning, I believe I am more of a 6V6 guy. Even an El34 or 6L6 guy on occasion. but the EL84's are just not my thing. I've tried the Cub, a Maz 18 (another cool amp though), and I just keep coming back to what works. The FTR37 gives me a turbo Deluxe Reverb sound that can get it done on a big stage, and it loves pedals to boot!

Hey Rick, I see you do the country thing...

I was just observing your knob settings. I'm curious, what's your recipe for giggin the 37? Any attenutation? I figure you gotta get alot of the clean thing, so you prob just run full power with the volume down in the verb channel. (I'm not much into country, but I dig the 37's percussive clean like this).

Do you get to use the click channel much? IMO, it doesn't sound so great with the volume down (anything >10:00). Too middy. Hence, I use an Airbrake. But I like my rev channel breakin up (12-1:00), and the click at 11:00+ (and run A+B alot) anyway. There is no way I could play at most gigs set this hot without an attenuator.
