I'd like your collective opinion, since I'm still forming my own.

I just picked this up, but I'm not sure I like it.

On the one hand, it's not perfect, and that bothers me.

On the other hand, I think it adds character and makes it different from every other one out there. I like that.

    What can I say - I'm complicated. :)

Take a look at these pictures if you would, and look at the wood grain. There dark patches in the wood grain, both front and back. What do you think of it?

Wood grain seems fine to me.

I sat in the store and played every strat they had. At one point I had convinced myself that a Highway One would be good enough. As a check, I brought it back to this one, and when I picked this one up, I realized how wrong I was about the highway one. Great guitar, but not what I wanted.

My initial plan is to replace the pickups with more traditional texas special types. I love the way it plays, and it sounds good, though I think with new pups it will sound fantastic.

I have 10 days to return it if I'm not happy which is why all the dopey stickers are still on it. :)

There was another just like it with a maple neck, but I really wanted rosewood. The grain on the maple one was perfect, but it was obviously three pieces of wood. This one is seemless if it's more than two.

I know I'm dopey but I'm not sure what you are talking about. What is the blemish? I wouldn't have thought twice about that top. Maybe I'm not looking closely enough??

Sorry. I see the black spots you are talking about but honestly I wouldn't have thought twice about them. That's what makes every guitar unique- real wood. Just my .02. I'll vote for character.

Yeah, it's honest wood and it's good wood. I'd be happy as hell if it were mine. Character in spades.

I don't see any blemishes nor do I see any character. I do see a nice looking Ash Strat though. If it plays well and feels right then keep it.
