I'm doing the same thing w/ my Blues Jr. It smoked the circuit board and output transformer, so I found the layout at 18watt.com to turn it into a single volume, single tone version. I spent $75 at Hoffman for all the parts needed minus the OT. When I finish it, I'll post about how it sounds.
there are a few conversions like this. i've seen a Pro Jr. done into 18 watt specs, too. a few guys on the LP forum's amp lounge can do this for you.
I think the Blues Junior and a few other extremely established and well priced amps are going to be the fertile ground for lots of mods for the playing musician. We have a Blues Junior rebuild planned as well, I am glad to see this is already in motion with other builders. I would not be surprised to see this type of mod being very common in a year or two with quite a few builders and modders in the game. Certainly the amp and high end climate are changing, more players without elite wallets want "in"!
S2 is a regular member of the www.18watt.com forum and really builds some nice stuff. He's also very knowledgable (sp?). It would be interesting to hear this conversion. -Rich
Hello, sir. I just placed an order for a Tone Press from one of your Calgary dealers. Looking forward to it. taco
I think there was someone else out there that does a bluesbreaker type mod for the blues jr ? hmmm, I see they do a pro jr mod too.....I have a pro jr
Never heard that one but I love the concept! Gut those dime a dozen corporate amps and rewire them with highly serviceable construction and partsÂ…and uh, cool tones too!
I've been looking into this Blues jr coversion to marshall. Does anyone know if this is available as a kit?
I have "Farshall" conversion by Tom Seward-Pro Jr. Great sounding little amp, even with the original speaker/transformers. Now I need to find someone to build a full 18w head from a generic 60s donor for me...
