I bought this recently but just today got it back from a refret / set-up and this thing is KILLER
It's a '74 I grabbed off Ebay. It was owned by Phil Spalding ( a british bassist who's played with a ton of people and was in the 80s Howe / Hackett band GTR ). It has the orig blonde finish underneath (in pretty nice shape) but was lightly oversprayed in black nitro ages ago and has been signed / doodled on by countless pub bands mostly. Holly Johnston (from Frankie Goes to Hollywood) and Paul Humphreys (from Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark) both did their thing.. anyways. I was gonna "restore" it back to blonde but I cant bear to. In Person , it looks like Rock N Roll history incarnate
And it sounds CRAZY great - newly refretted w/ 6105s - it rings like a BELL !!
The orig guard ( routed for an 80s dimarzio humbucker ) , the original bridge ( which was nice ), the pickup (which I HATED- super thin and microphonic ) - and the orig 1 meg pots ( on a tele ? NO THANKS ) - were all sold back on Ebay and almost recovered every dollar I paid for the guitar
Now I can play "Rock The Casbah" in true Joe Strummer-style
And here it is w/ the AC-10 I just bought thru the Emporium ( BOY, that was a great move too !! )
