    Anyone watching?
I thought the first episode was well done, and had me thinking "holy crap" multiple times.
I'm wondering how historically accurate it all is or will be.

I liked episode one apart from the aesthetic.

I remember everything being hush hush when it happened, until Europe started getting very high readings. The show is better than GOT at the moment..

What parts about that did you dislike? For me, the only thing that mildly bothered me was the filter or lighting (or color?) choice seemed a little heavy at times. However, I get that perhaps creatively they are going for a "radiation present" vibe, but this can be overdone IMO.

I won't watch it - I was alive when the real accident happened. The thing that sticks out
in my head - my Swedish cousins couldn't drink Milk or eat Cheese that came from cows
living under the radioactive cloud that blew over Sweden.

It has that amber and teal digital color grading that's become so popular in recent years.

Yeah that's what I was trying to say when describing the filter/color/etc. It's very prevalent

Indeed. I don't like that look generally, but this show is really pushing the aesthetic.

I was alive too, but at the time it was just a piece of news from somewhere I never thought I would visit - I probably should have been more interested in learning about it. in '86 I was all about gigging in bands, sports, high school drama, girls, etc. and not up to speed on world events outside of what a teacher or my parents mentioned. Sad but true

Russians didn't say a word until then. I was in Poland then, and we found out because of Sweden. I remember standing in line in (elementary) school to drink iodine.

I'm having the same "holy crap" reaction to your post as to many of the situations in the first episode. That is crazy

For some reason Chernobyl fascinates/scares me. I’ve watched most of the docs on it

I was in Sweden and Finland as it was going on. In particular, when I was visiting Finland, the maps on TV showed us being smack where the radioactivity went. We were warned about being outdoors for any extent of time, picking berries, drinking milk, swimming, fishing etc.
