I've seen all these other supergroups and 80's metal dudes play classic covers on youtube and they were all "meh" to me (even so cheesy at times)..

...until I saw this cool clip today.

That IS one of the better versions of that song I've heard. Most times, without the organ, it sounds like crap. But that's a great version.

It helps when the dudes have respect for what they are playing as is the case with Michael Anthony and Satriani.

Deep Purple influenced loads of artists and some of them have got into the R&R Hall Of Shame before them.

I ran across this cover of Highway Star a few months ago. Likewise, it just blew me away. This version just rocks to the core and they gave the tune it's due justice.

Organ? pfffffft!

...it would only have gotten in Satrianis' way. (Let that boy boogie-woogie)

awesome. huge Purple fan and that song is the one that inspired me to play guitar. Joe does a great job and makes a valiant effort to duplicate the organ sound.
