Chicken pickers - favourite Dynacomp incarnation?

I've got an intermittently-working MXR Custom Comp in need of repair. I love this pedal, but gosh it injects a lot of noise into the line. Since it stopped working i've come to realise how much I love the Dynacomp ross-style compression on my country runs...well, pretty much on anything when you've got a Tele in hand A Diamond compressor is my backup unit - it's great too, but only a Dynacomp can sound like a Dynacomp.

So this question goes out to all the chicken pickers and hardcore Dynacomp aficionados. Without getting too boutique on me, what's your favourite incarnation of this pedal?

Not a Ross clone, but I recently picked up an Origin Effects SlideRig. Wow, it just blows everything else away....great for chickin pickin!

Woah! $380 = super boutique. I'm specifically chasing a ross/Dynacomp compressor - opto's don't quite squish the same way.

track down as boss cs-2. they are a great old comp.

production, go a used keeley 2knobber. you can usually find one around $150, or less.

wampler ego is the supreme take on the ross, with a few nifty twists.

I'll let others tell you about the high end comps I've never tried.

I have a block logo MXR Dyna-Comp that I like a lot. (pre-Dunlop). Have you tried the Whirlwind Red Box? On my other pedalboard I'm using a BBE Bench Press that's based on a Ross. I leave it on all the time with just a little squash. Very good for the money.

I'm a chicken picker. Been through a lot of compressors. My favorite is the Wampler Ego. Also Analogmans Orange Squeeze. I like the blend knob on the Ego & find it very useful. My .02
