the worst sounding effect ever, how do people fall into believing this makes a guitar sound good?

You're entitled to your opinion, but the effect does have its place in the sonic pallette.
I'm not much into chorus either, but I like my Fulltone Choralflange as it allows you to dial in a mix of the wet and dry signal, so you can have a very subtle effect if so desired.

A little chorus mixed in can really thicken up your sound. All of us overdid chorus in the 80's. It was the 80's! Excess was the theme of the decade.

I ronically enough all this hate for the chorus has inspired me to dust off my Boss Super Chorus just to see what all the fuss is about.

I keep a CE-5 around for a little vibey wiggle for a few songs, plus there are some covers that just need chorus. I'm not sure I've ever heard Alex Lifeson without at least a little chorus going on.

I agree to a certain extent, I have found it cool when combined with many other FX to give whole masses of sound a glassy, swirly, detuned vibe. I also like to run a volume pedal, chorus, phaser,HOG out of the echo out on my DMM, set 100% wet, with the dry output running to a fuzz/amp. To me it's useful for soundscapes.

Electronic amplifiers suck, they make your strings sound all fake. How can you think that sounds good?

LOL! I think it's just about utilizing it in creative/different ways, As opposed to the way people usually think chorus sounds. BTW mike, I have one of yours, great pedal, even though I tend to use it in a non standard way.

It's fallen out of favor in the last few years though I liked what Andy Summers did with it. Vibe is the new Chorus.

I find it hard to make Chorus sound "Modern" it is 80's but if I use Chorus it would be with loads of Reverb and Delay to get a Shoegazerish thing going on.

You're too much Mike! The OP is definitely the winner of the "TGP Asinine Post Of The Day" award.

The Standard Chorus with Deep Toggle you made for me is nothing short of outstanding in both tone and build quality. And your suggestion to use 18v for bass usage was right on.

Only hack trendy guitarists use chorus! That guy, what's his name... Gilmorse... Gilmourrey...What's his name... he doesn't know tone from his elbow, and he uses it. Proves the point.

To the OP: Careful with that generalization, Eugene.

I'm a big fan of chorus, though I use it less than I used to. Ever since A Trick of the Tail came out, I've loved the sound.

Effects (all of them, including chorus) are tools. If you lack the ability or creativity to know how to use them correctly, it's not the tools fault, is it? If you know how to use it and still don't like it- don't use it!

In your honor I will rock the suburbs with my collection of chorus pedals tonight. The chorus effect is not dated, but your perception of it sure is.

Next up: "Why Bender, Face, & Muff clones suck", followed by "Why the Whammy is sooooo 90's"....
