..he popped up in an episode of Archer I watched last night, my fiance knew who he was somehow instantly, before they said his name, I had no idea.
Even after they said his name, still no idea.

My fiance is all "you've never heard of Christian Slater???" and I asked what he's in, she couldn't name anything off the top of her head.

    Forgot about it.

A few minutes ago my friend sends me a link on FB about some Mr Robot show, and says Christan Slater is in it. I say who the heck is Christian Slater.
Again, "you don't know who Christian Slater is? you been under a rock or something?"

I asked if he was Batman, but he wasn't (apparently).

I decide to hit google, and then his wiki - don't know him. Never seen his face. Looked at all the movies and stuff he's in, nothing I recognise.
Genuinely have never seen the guy, and don't know any of his movies.

Have I been living under a rock, is he meant to be some famous dude or are his movies more like B-grade sorta stuff and maybe some cult classics or something?

I'm pretty up to date on movies and whatnot, just find it unusual that his name's popped up a few times around me lately and I've never heard of or seen the guy in my life.

Don't think he has been in any significant roles in a while. Weird though how the subject came up randomly on consecutive days.

He wasn't Batman, but in the late 80's he tried really hard to be a Jack Nicholson impersonator.

I first recall him in Name of the Rose, playing alongside Sean Connery. He was great in Heathers, which I suppose would be considered a cult classic. That was his soon-to-be typical dark character. True Romance might have been a career highlight.

    Is this another troll thread?

I think his most high profile role was in "Heathers". He was in the "Young Guns" movies, a small role in a Star Trek, bunch of other stuff. Love his character in Archer.

You've never seen True Romance? Great movie! You should check it out.

He was a legit star in the 90's, but his range is extremely limited, probably keeping him from getting more work. I haven't seen him in anything in awhile. He was sort of a Jack Nicholson wannabe.

I thought "Pump Up the Volume" was the best role for his
    "Nicholson impersonation" phase.

He was also in The Wizard...awesome Fred Savage movie

I met him at a resort hotel in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. He was dressed like a UPS delivery guy, all ready to go in the jungle. He was pretty cool, just hanging out in the lobby lounge waiting for his ride.

Don't forget Broken Arrow with John Travolta.

Slater has been in quite a few movies that did well.

Never going to win the big one for his acting chops, but he has done pretty well, it seems.

Disagree given all the movies he's been in. However, I will say he was in a lot of supporting roles in a bunch of flicks in the 90's, probably why some folks have a hard time remembering what movies he's been in.

He was part of the brat pack in the 80s. Some went on to do better than others. I'd be surprised if you were into movies and not know who he is, he's hardly obscure

OP, you cool with looking a bit sheltered and out of touch? That's what this thread is doing for you.

I don't think he was ever considered one of the Brat Pack. He came along a few years after their big teen films.

Gotta say that I love Heathers! His Jack impersonation worked well in that role.

Heathers and True romance were probably his best work.

Kuffs was kinda quirky, but had some good laughs.

Yeah, not a brat pack guy, but on their heels. He was big in the mid/late 80s and into the early 90s. As others have said he was in supporting roles in a large number of big films. One of his last big roles, I think, was as Will Scarlet in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Man that was a crappy movie despite an excellent (but ill-conceived) cast.

He played a creepy dad recently in Ask Me Anything. It was a good role.

And yes, he's been quite well known since the late 80's.

Yep - OP, you need to watch the last 25 years of Extra or Access Hollywood - get on that, important stuff.
