Yamano was Gibson's Japanese distributor for years. They were known to have ahnd-picked the best instruments that were coming out of the Nashville factory. Do a search on Yamano Les Pauls and you will find some beautiful guitars.

Curious, does the 'Y' after the model number denote Yamano? And would that be the case with all of Yamanos?

I assume the "Y" designates Yamano. This guitar was built 3 years before Gibson offered this model in the U.S. I have heard of many Yamanos with no label at all.
