Any idea whether or not Fender will ever offer copies of Clapton's "Over The Rainbow" strat?

    I'd buy one.

Thanks Wes. I saw the fs ad. His is basically a 'partscaster' with a copied paint job on a MX body. It is nice and a pretty good copy. Also, if I remember correctly ebay pulled his auction due to the 'copy' job.

Buy a Clapton USA strat and Lee at GMW Guitarworks will do the paint job for ya.

Email me for a pic or 2. Really looks good.

    Cheers from KC

Fender is actually releasing a limited line of custom Crash Strats. These are Strats custom painted by Crash, but not the exact Clapton paintjob. More like 'in the style of'.

I saw a picture gallery somewhere - I think it was the Where's Eric? site. Some are nice, some are kind of 'eh', all are expensive.

    Everybody's gotta be somewhere.
Crash is a "friend of a friend".

I think its interesting that he started out as a graphiti artist and turned that into a successful art career (which is how he hooked up with EC, btw)

I've been told that he's often contacted by a number of other guitarists to paint their guitars, but generally passes on the offers.

    DOH!!! There goes THAT idea!

I was really hoping that Fender would copy the original Crash design the Clapton played and issue a guitar LIKE it for a price at which a workin' stiff could pay.
