Is there any pedal that's been designed to capture EC's famous Cream-era woman tone?

Granted, it's impossible to get his tone out from just one pedal, but something close enough would be good.

Closest I've come is a Germanium Fuzz with the tone control on the guitar rollwed down.

a cheap yet easy way is to activate your wah pedal and use trial and error by finding a fixed spot to set the actual pedal in. I think on some recordings (swalbr and outside woman blues come to mind) EC might have actually played a lot of lead with the wah pedal on and in the upright position. But you can find other positions with the wah that can get you close with the right amount of drive.

However, if you want to do it right, buy a Sun Lion and the possibilities are endless.

Take just about any guitar, turn the tone knob all the way down. Select the neck pickup. Use just about any OD pedal into just about any amp. Play tasty blues licks around the 10-12th fret. That's it, you can't go wrong.

First off skip the metalzone comment I hope that dude was either kidding or does not know what the woman tone is.

Clapton got his tone out of a les paul with the tone turned down all the way. I have seen interviews and their is a clip some where on you tube where he talks about it. Depending on your amp etc it could be a neck pup or a bridge.

With a strat start with your neck pick up and the tone rolled down. With your amp get a tone that is medium gain and adjust from there. Clapton used marshalls blasting

ill just add to the %85 of above posts by saying it helps to turn the treble on the OD or amp (pedals better so it just your "woman tone pedal" ) up kinda high..i find if its were i have it for "normal" tones that with the guitar tone turned way down it gets to muddy...

ex: i use a menatone blue collar (its mid bump also helps with WT)

    mid amount of gain
treble up say 4-5 (very high for me)
    pres up 12-1

    strat neck PU.

    guitar tone knob way down

to me something cool happens when the pedal is saying "lots of treble" and the guitar is taking it away than just rolling the tone on the guitar down?? but just my findings!

as the kids say...boo yeah.. :)

please, specify what you intend for 'woman tone' :)!
to me, Cream studio material (i.e.'disraeli gears') and live takes (thinking about spoonful, etc) do sound very different...what is 'more woman'?

as far as i heard, woman tone was archived with tone rolled off on guitar but Eq knobs almost on full on the amps...and lots of volume...

That was me. I'm well aware of what woman tone is, and thought I'd throw that in there for good measure....since I found it to be extremly funny.

Get a Zvex Box of Rock and roll off your tone control on your guitar.
