question about where to purchase.

did you buy directly from Clark Amps or did you go through The Perfect Note or Guitar Adoptions?

is one of these places better than the others for ordering?

I think you may be better off at perfect note, the guy is very knowledgeable

any idea how long the turnaround is for one of Clark's amps through The Perfect Note?

It's been a long time back that I bought my 2 Clarks, but I remember Bob at "The Perfect Note" being great to deal with once you get him on the phone, and turn around back then was anywhere from 3-4 months. Might be shorter now. Going through Bob doesn't change the price or the turn around since your amp is started whenever the order is placed.

i've heard that 3-4 months is about right.

If memory serves, I think it's a percentage downpayment for him to start the amp, and then the remainder before it ships. Wait 'til you see the packing job they do on these things. Bomb proof would be an understatement.:dude

Bob is the one to deal with. I spoke with Mrs. Clark when it was ready to ship. I think it took 3 months. I believe Clark has another job that prevents quick responses. Bob knows the models and options so well, you're not going to need to talk to Mike. The perfect note has a forum with info about Clarks. TPNGear.com

No one knows Clarks amps like Bob, well maybe Michael. He can be hard to get on the phone because he spends all the time needed with each customer. He plays sells, Clark amps, I think since 95. Very good at helping you purchase the amp for the tone your going for and if the amp won't do it he'll tell you. I've purchased 3 Clark amps and I don't know how many pedals from Bob over the years. Highly reccomend calling him!

+1 for Bob being great to deal with. I spoke with Mrs. Clark a few times, but I never did get Michael on the phone. If I remember correctly, it was half down and half when it was ready to ship.
I have the Beaufort w/Cele Blue too. It's a great amp with a build quality that is second to none.

What is the real difference between the Beaufort amplifiers on Mike's Web page? Does the premium one have NOS tubes and better grade components?

I also see he has them listed on Ebay for less then they are listed for on his website. I'd like to purchase one but I don't get the Marketing Strategy.

Dazed and Confused,

Mike's website isn't the most informative and it seems like it's always changing. It's best to speak with Bob at The Perfect Note for details, but I can tell you that the premium comes with a Celestion Blue, Jensen paper in oil caps and Mike's own cabinet. The special is the one he usually sells on eBay. It doesn't have the Jensen caps, comes with a Weber speaker and the cab is made by Mojo I believe.
