    Hi all -

I'm looking to consolidate my board a bit by getting a dirt pedal that can also act as a clean boost if needed - for low volume bedroom stuff, e.g.

Currently, I'm running an Xotic EP Booster at the end of the chain. Love the pedal, but want to free up space for more (or less) pedals!

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers.

Fulldrive 3, it has a fantastic clean boost that's completely independent of the overdrive, plus you can switch it to before or after the gain. The only thing I'd say is going to go against it is if you're looking to save space it isn't the smallest pedal in the world.

That's great, bobbyatomic, thanks! And the price is right too...

I'm also interested in going 'eccentric' as well - been eyeing the RML Electron Fuzz, e.g., but I'm not sure that will meet my boost needs.

Looking to support up-and-coming pedal makers, if possible.

Electron certainly won't do any clean boost! It will make killer fuzz though

If you really want a dirt pedal that can double as a clean boost, I think the Blues Driver and various Klones are good. If you want OD that is

I think I want something fuzzier than BD2 and Klones...possibly.

The ARC V2 may fit the bill.

Zvex box of rock or Double Rock? Both are "horizontal" boxes so may or may not save space. The advantages of the Double Rock include the low end filters like the distortron and that each channel can be either boost or distortion.

Keeley phat BD2 or Lovepedal Amp11... Both work well in the application you need. The newer Amp11 pedals have the independent boost, so you get two sound options to utilize.

Let me ask another way: Which is the fuzziest pedal that can also do clean-ish boost?

Another vote for the Elements. Very very versatile.

I've owned a lot that MIGHT fit this bill, but the one that pops into my head first when reading this description is the Crowther Hotcake. Clean boost is terrific with that pedal, great range of overdrive, and then if you pump the DRIVE up above 3:00 it gets into some fat sustained sounds with a thick bottom end.

I would suggest it over a Klone, as I found the medium/heavier side of the OD sounds to be more pleasant than the Klones I've tried at higher gain. (Klones were great at clean / mild OD though...)

What sort of guitar / amp are you running?

Thanks, e-flat. I'm running a Mascis Squier JM and Tele through a modded Blues Jr. & 2 x 12 cab.

I think you've pretty much described the Fulltone Catalyst. Might be worth a glance.

What sort of speakers do you run in your cab?
Just wondering because the Hotcake excels with a mid strong /British flavored amp, and though it can be really good with a more traditional Fender clean tone / Jensens, some guys don't like it with those types of amps.

If the BJr (EL84) is running into Celestions or something, you might give the Hotcake a shot!
