I was just at a music store in Atlanta checking out amps. I ran a Fender custom shop strat through a Hiwatt Custom 50 head and Hiwatt 4X12 cab. Just for gits and shiggles I cranked everything all the way to 11 and I thought it wasn't plugged in. Not even the slightest hum. F'n amazing!

So, are there any other amps as clean as this? What's the cleanest amp you've played?

Cleanest amp I've ever played is a 65 Fender Twin Reverb.

HiWatts are clean amps, old Ampegs are known for cleans and so are BF/SF Fender amps...all 3 of those have pretty different vibes but all 3 are known for clean tones, the bigger the amp you get the more clean headroom you'll have...

BTW...you didn't happen to be at Midtown Music by any chance??

I have a Dr Z MAZ Jr and it is super clean.....however it is only 18 watts and does break up a bit at higher volumes. I would look at the MAZ Sr or Z-28 for something with some more headroom should you want to go with higher volumes.

I would recommend anything by Dr Z....and they do seem to take pedals seemlessly...

Someone was selling a Hiwatt 200 in the Emporium. It would be hard to get cleaner and louder than that.

65 Fender Twin Reissue (Blackface) cranked up to "11" will not distort. Just sounds creamy warm. Yum!

Sure is! Good folks there, I've always had good dealings with them!

I knew as soon as you said CS Strat and HiWatt you had to be there!

Agree ... have been using My JC120 quite a bit lately ..
However, as of just two hours ago it has been replaced
    by a Egnator Tourmaster ...

The cleans are just wonderful... I'm simply blown away by them ...

    Nothing ... I luv my Classic 50 & JC120 & will switch between 'em ..
I use one of the channels in my JC for guitar synth on smaller gigs ...

However... I have to tell you bro .. this Egnator Tourmaster
    just stole my heart ....

1st channel is one of the cleanest .. nicest touch sensitive amps I've ever experienced so far ....
It took me by total (or tonal) surprise ...:)

Yup the JC is pretty much the cleanest guitar amp I've ever run across. That being said it's the worst amp for running OD/Dist pedals through.

Are you referring to the Egnater 4212?

Since you seem to appreciate high clean headroom your opinion is interesting but that seems to be a lot of amp for your gigging situation.
Just checked....100W and 95 lbs!!! ouch!

Ive got a Fender Dual Professional that has way more clean volume than both my 66 Twin and my 75 Twin. Loud and clean...

Roland Jazz Chorus JC120. Clean with a killer shimmer chorus, what solid state should be about. But takes pedals like a transistor - ya got nothin' to push into overdrive there, folks!

Tube clean? Fender Twin Reverb, that's a given. Even the bass, which is huge and enveloping, is clean without being sterile. Overhead for days.

yah, I played through one of those, and there is almost an infinite amount of clean. CRAZY loud . Weighs a ton... amazing amps... but otherwise, a twin is pretty hard to beat for clean tone
