After the season, and offseason, they've had, this is the most Cleveland Browns-thing they could possibly do.

I'd be shocked if Pettine went along with this. Stupid. Oh just read they might not have a choice...... still stupid.

It's probably because of their new logo.

Yeah, IIRC, if you don't have a rookie head coach, you can be forced into it.

Makes sense. I mean, if it weren't for a new coach I'm sure the NFL would have wanted to do it last year. Manziel, even after his lousy last season performance, will still bring in viewers and I hate to say it but the whole rebound from rehab storyline will be very compelling.

Pettine was on the show when he was with the Jets so I'm sure he has an idea what to expect and hopefully use that experience to bring out whatever positives there were to the Browns.

In all honesty and I hope I'm wrong I am not positive Manziel will be on the team this year. If they trade up for Mariota I doubt he will.

I hope they don't trade up.

You would rather have Manziel than Mariota?

I think they will have to give up too much to trade up for him. Hopefully they select better this year in the first round and fill needs with two first rounders. Gilbert may still turn out all right. Manziel, I have no idea if he will make it but it would be a great story if he did.

Mariota seems to be not a lock to succeed in the NFL by some. He also has no experience in NFL style football so he could need a couple of years or more to get to the point where it is known.

there's rumor the team owner may swap franchises with tennessee titans.

i would think the NFL and HBO would want to use the browns as "reality TV" because browns fans are on the verge of turning their backs on the team. i hear quite often " my team is in baltimore"...what a stark contrast to " johnny is taking us to the superbowl!" just a few months ago.
