I just found out about this DVD of Coltrane live in Germany in 1960. I ordered it a couple of days ago. It includes a later live date with his more famous quartet but I just love him playing with this group. Probably my all time favorite Coltrane solo is on "Fifth House" from Coltrane Jazz, with this same quartet. Anyway, I'm thrilled and can hardly wait for it to show up in the mail.

Here's a taste, On Green Dolphin Street

Through pure chance, one of the first two records I ever bought was Miles Davis' "Carnegie Hall" date with Wynton Kelly, PC and Cobb. Tthat opened a door to a path which, 40+ years later, I'm still trying to tread. I literally learned to play jazz from Kelly and Cobb, by turning down the bass knob and spinning Miles and Wes records.

Everybody on that clip is The Sound Of Truth as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for posting!

I didn't know it existed either until someone posted it on Facebook a couple days ago. That's one good thing about Facebook anyway.

That's true. Probably the only reason I keep FB.
