Not a pedal junkie as I only use OD and delay currently. Play mostly classic/southern rock; humbuckers. Looking for a good true-bypass compressor pedal under $150. No hiss wanted.:nono

BYOC 5-knob
Barber Tone Press
BBE Orange Squash
?

Thanks -

Check out the few offered by CMATMODs. I have his Deluxe Compressor which is a Ross clone but with 4 knobs. Sometimes he lists his pedals on ebay at slightly lower prices too.

used Keeley Comp perhaps? I've heard good things about the new script logo Dynacomp reissues too - a few dollars over your price range.

Check out this site. Mainly with a bass interest, but good to know on guitar. http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/toppicks.shtml

I really like my tone press, but I do find it a bit noisy. I just got a Diamond Bass Comp and that pedal is really quiet compared to the Tone Press.

I think a BBE optostomp, might be your best bet.

Marshall ED-1 is a very good low cost solution. Tweakable EQ, I have to run mine around 11 o'clock to get a balanced sound, can be set quite bright if desired. Quiet and quite transparent at low gain/compression settings. Should be able to find one well under $100.

Check out the BYOC forum, you can sometimes find one there from a builder. I found my 5-knob BYOC compressor on ebay for $95 earlier this year. Great compressor, no hiss, very versatile with the wet/dry blend knob.

It's pretty difficult on the scale of byoc builds but semi decent soldering skills and a solid ability to follow directions and it's
doable. I love mine the addition of the blend knob makes it an almost always on pedal for me. Doesn't sound compressed bit adds sustain and note seperation. It can do as much as any Ross gray clone out there it's just got a bunch more features. Don't be afraid of the build. If you can solder your golden.
