Please don't turn this into a religious discussion. This is not why I'm writing this.

I'm listening to one of my favorite contemporary Christian groups right now - Delirious? - and wondering who else in TGP land listens to some of these artists?

    Jeremy Camp
Lincoln Brewster - amazing guitar player
    Hillsong and Hillsong United
The Newsboys - fun band live.

Love me some Hillsong... but I work in that industry...so I dig the majority of the product being made by various artists.

I've been listening to CCM since about 1980. Back in those days, the top bands were Petra and White Heart. Dann Huff was the original guitarist in White Heart, and he was great, of course. Then Gordon Kennedy played with White Heart for a while. Now both those guys are huge in the session scene, and touring (Gordon was out with Peter Frampton for a few years recently).

I saw Petra many times (they have reunited for a new CD and tour), as well as White Heart, Amy Grant, Phil Keaggy (incredible guitar player, and super-nice, humble guy), Honeytree, 2nd Chapter of Acts, Larry Norman (R.I.P.), DC Talk, Newsboys, etc.

In recent years CCm bands have dropped off a lot, and much of it has turned into P & W artist's, like Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, Matt Redman, etc.

I've liked bands like Dogs of Peace (that's a great CD!), and The Lost Dogs, The 77's, etc. There's a lot to choose from out there!

The only ones I truly love are Phil Wickham and Jason Morant.

Then there are guys like Jason Upton and Rick Pino. Plus a ton of Black Gospel that's fun to listen to.

Speaking of black gospel, I have grown to REALLY love Israel Houghton this year. Saw him live in August and he's just an amazing musician; adept at both the guitar and the keyboards.

Check this guy out. And yes that is the renowned Marc Ford who often plays electric guitar for Chris Lizotte's worship service.

I would recommend the Robbie Seay Band, the David Crowder Band, John Mark McMillan, and Derek Webb. There is some amazing music being made by Christians lately; probably better than ever.

Because he's just talking about music. Secular artists are welcome in the P & W forum, so vice versa in here.

Here's a really interesting writer with a BIG song.

Big +1 for Chris, and of course Marc's guitar work with him. P&W for classic rock/blues rock lovers. No dotted eigth note delays ;)

CCM is not Praise and Worship. Even though there is an Old School Guitar forum listed above the P&W forum I am still glad to see recent and current threads on Jimi, Otis, and Freddie King in this forum. :dunno:

Dunno. We have a couple of CCM radio stations. I'll stop and see if I like anything but for the most part I start nodding off.
Now this........I'll listen to. Don't let the hair scare you away. It's really a great band!
