Conversion 4xEL84 to 2xEL34

    Any general rules of thumb going from a cathode biased matchless type layout 4xEL84 and converting to a 2xEL34?

    Well, this will be a money-hole for sure.

    1: EL84 is 9-pin and EL34 is Octal based.

    1A: You'll have to punch chassis...

    2: Would have to look-up and figure plate impedance for both examples, but I'd be surprised if it matched.

    What's wrong with 4 X EL84 ???

    What have you got? I've been looking for a 4 x EL84 amp. Got lots of 2 x EL34/6L6 amps to trade.

    Unless this amp has virtually no value, I think you're wasting your time.

    also EL34's have pretty stout current demands. A power transformer intended for 4 EL84's may not be able to deliver the amperage needed.
