Conversion neck tele project. Am I missing anything?

I've got this bright idea to buy a loaded tele body off the bay and add a warmoth conversion neck to make it shorter scale. If I do this I can get the ebony fretboard I want and fit the neck to my preferences. Am I missing anything? Is it just that easy? Bolt the neck, set the intonation, rock out? Do I need to buy an American Tele body if this is to be a touring guitar? Looks like I can do it for around $600. Am I crazy?

on paper it looks good but sometimes there are hiccups when installing aftermarket necks etc. Don't expect it to just be perfect right off.

Then again it might be smooth as silk and be an effortless process.

has anyone else ever conversion-ed a tele? Slacker strings obviously and a different tone maybe.
