That's a nice "tip of the iceberg" that is the very rich world of Steve Tibbetts. The world is a more tolerable place because of his music.

    wow.
to hear such a great take on THAT song is just sheer pleasure.
love how he makes the "phase" sounds with just his fingers...

also curious about the guitar - anyone know what it is?

    post production on that one?
It doesn't sound natural for what we see in the vid.
    Not very closed mic'd too.

    I feel a doubling/delay effect throughout.

    am I right/wrong?

but yes - a beautiful peice of work there!

One of my favorite tunes ever. First time I heard it, I took LSD and went to see the movie Woodstock at the century 21 theaters in San Jose. That song/scene with the minimal crowd just picking up garbage, will remain with me always. Beautiful song and though I prefer Jimi's version that is killer too. Long time Tibbets fan and thanks for posting.

...I met Steve in Kathmandu in the mid-1980's. I always liked his stuff...And yes, Tibet it is...That is the Potala(former home of the Dalai Lamas of Tibet) in the background. Looks like he's got the travel guitar thing figured out!

That's what I was thinking about it. The quality of sound doesn't match what we see.

    Guys -
I've not heard of this guy and it's caused me to research him. He's a gem for sure. Thanks for the link.

Imaginative and unusual phrasing, and of course great tone.

    One of my faves.

Yes, this is Steve's regular studio acoustic tone going on here.

Been a BIG fan of his for 20 years or so now. It is wonderful to see him manipulate the instrument and to soak in his sloooow vibrato. He draws you in. There is deep wisdom in his playing, from his attack to his phrasing and tone. Takes me to another place.

    Thanks for posting!

The world could certainly use more "MTV videos" featuring Mr. Tibbetts.

Maybe. Or the doubling/chorus effect was put in post production.
