Hey, I ran across Mike Risko Music in Ossining NY the other day and was happy to see some boutique lines (two rock, fano, tone king, john page) alongside the mom and pop store gear. He also has a good selection of Eastman and Music Man. He is hosting upcoming in store clinics including PBG guys and Eric Gales (which I will try to attend). And to top it off, Mike is a super nice and knowledgeable guy. He let me play his personal high end Benson Ibanez and the Andy Timmons sig model. Oh, and if you are a tele guy, you will want to play the black John Page AJ in the store. I almost whipped out the cc, but I have amp stuff I need right now.

I try to patronize folks like Mike as much as I can. I spent about 45 minutes trying gear and chatting and during that time about a dozen kids came in and out for their music lessons. I told Mike it reminded me of my childhood at Charlie Byrd's Music House in DC where I would play and lust after the Aria Pro II's on the wall. Not many people like Mike left out there providing this kind of service to their communities AND trying to keep higher end gear in stock for us gear hounds. Let's try to keep the brick and motor good guys around as much as possible.

That must be relatively new. I live near there and the last time I was there, a couple of years ago, they had none of that stuff. Will check it out.

That is so cool! I practically grew up in that place and even worked there for several years. I know Mike from years ago and I'm glad he is making it work. God bless him!

Went to High School with Mike, so I have mixed feelings about him taking over for Bob (RIP) and Ossining Music.

Good to see him doing well though.

Hey P, good to hear from you I hope all is well! I really miss BC too but my wallet is better off. Risko only has a few boutique items in comparison, but the new 2 rock el84 amp is there if you want to give it a spin. Glad to hear you are still rocking the Baker. The Spalt is long gone... was missing the wasabi lol. Take care man.

I bought my custom tele from Bobby at Ossining Music among a few other "toys". Always a nice and pleasant guy to deal with.
Then I took lessons at Risko's Music school which used to be down the street from the music store.
Bobby and Mike were friends until Bobby passed away. Only fitting that Mike reopened the store and continues to stay busy with the clientele, especially the school kids.
