My head will be a Chicago Brothers Blues Box Humbolt (Buddy Guy's amp). The mesa cab would be a 2x12 with Celestion C90 Black Shadow Speakers.

Playing a strat. Nevermind the lack of talent -would the tone be there with those speakers?

I don't see why not, I used to play a Fender Bandmaster Reverb head thru my Mesa 2-12 rectifier cab which had Vintage 30's in it and it sounded graet for Blues. I would think the CL90's would be even better since they are neutral sounding speakers which will let more of your amps natural tones to shine .

it's really is depend on the type of sound you want to get. Blues tone usually great with a more inefficient speakers. i have a 6l6 amp that i run through a 1X12 thiele loaded with EV so i would have to use a drive pedal to get light break up from my amp.

No. No way you can get a good blues tone with a Mesa boogie cab.

Sorry. Unless the mesa boogie cab is covered with tweed grille cloth. Then you should be ok.

Sure no problem. Is it open or closed back. Open backs are usually preferred for blues but either will work.

Thanks straightblues...Yep plenty of Kings in my diet (check out "Ready Freddy" on the soundcloud page)..also pick with my fingers so that helps with that kind of sound..sorry to derail op's thread.
