i love everything i've heard craig ross play, and i'd like to get closer to his tone. technique is obvisouly a large part of any guitar tone, but i like to know if anyone knows what gear he uses and how he uses it. he has a website that lists much of his gear, but nothing about how he uses. tough finding interviews, too.

any info you guest have would be appreciated!

Craig is such a great player! I would like to know more about him AND his gear, too. One would think that he would have a higher profile.

I wish I knew. Saw him play w/his old band Broken Homes, back
in early 1990's. They would play w/ Burning Tree(Mark Ford), quite
a bit, sucked having to listen 2 both guys back2back..HAHA
One time both guys sat in with each others bands.Little did you
know how good Craig and Mark would become, but ya for the money
I thought Craig's tone was even better than Mark's. I think Craig was
    playin' Les Pauls.

stu of fat sound told me he sold craig ross an amp once--a plexi, i think. stu says craig is a total tone hound.

his tone is so interesting--light, but thick.

I wish I could help as I've watched him on the latest Unplugged or Storytellers several times, but there are so many amps around them and most have two of each one. Trying to figure out who is thru what is really tough. From memory - Marshall 18 or 20 watt, Silverface Super Reverb, and Tweed Deluxe laid back in the pocket.

Trying to nail down Craigs gear is not easy...there's a lot of it and it changes all the time!

I guess it depends on the gig. The guy has a ton of gear. Is he still doing the Lenny Kravitz thing?
