In this case, I think you post an RE with links to real world prices. Guys like that need to be called out.

By not replying. That way, in time if they don't receive any interest and need to sell the instrument, they will reduce the cost.

Remember, a lot of people have lost of lot of money on vintage guitars as they reached a peak about 5-6 years ago. The market has since crashed so I guess they are trying to recover their investment.

Personally, I'm never that into 'pricing police' but hey, that's just me.

Oh woops - my bad, just noticed it's for a 2004 guitar! When you said "rare" just assumed genuinely rare!

Do your worst dude.

As annoying as it can be -- you are better of by not replying IMO. When I read the RE: posts on CL, I wonder if these folks have a life.

You could also email him directly and ask him if something special has been done to this guitar, as they retail for $1550.00 new. If you're interested in it, make a reasonable offer for what they go for used.

Why would you bother? Why do you care? Righting the wrongs of idiots? I have exactly zero time for it. Besides, with all the misguided idiots wasting oxygen out there, it would be a full-time, 24/7/52/365 undertaking for the rest of your life.

Or...you could ignore the stupid sh*t. This allows one to spend all of that time enjoying the non-stupid sh*t, like playing music, smooching with broads, getting high, watching flowers grow, et cetera!

I have listed things on the Emporium at a price that they were going for on Ebay, and have had the TGP price police stop by and tell me how nuts I was, etc. The moderators removed these comments, because the Emporium rules clearly state not to comment on someone's asking price. If a guy pays his dues on the Emporium, he can ask for the freaking moon if he wants, it's a free country. I feel the same way about Craigslist. Leave the guy alone and if someone buys, someone buys.

It is possible to find genuinely good deals on CL. But for every good deal, there are hundreds of idiots selling "rare" gear for loser prices.

IF you want to buy it, make him a fair offer. Don't be a dBag and offer to pay in "Cash Today" because no one is offering a payment plan of gold coins.

Since he isn't that educated in what he has, you may want to offer some links to comparable sales on ebay.

If you don't want to buy it, why give it another seconds thought?

I don't see why you feel the need. Anybody with $2,000 to spend should be doing their homework. Re: posts are pretty douchey. The only exception would be if somebody is selling a counterfeit as genuine.
