    Heres a interesting story:

Sam Ash is selling the new Crate V series at a great reduced price but you have to pay shipping. Of interest to me was the V18 2x12 which is advertised for $249 plus shipping. So my buddy called Music 123 and got them to match the price and include shipping with it.

I called and got the same deal and the amp arrived today. So far so good. It actually looks to be pretty well made. I dont know what type of speakers are in it but Im told the tubes are Sovteks.
Has a nice El84 chime and when pushed sounds surprisingly pretty good.

I think Sam Ash is moving out all the Crate V series a good prices. It might be worth a look in on their web site.

    Hey all.

I the "other guy" in John C's story above: I got the Crate v18 112 for $249.00 at m123 and love the amp - it's got EL84 chime, a simple 1 channel v-mv-t-m-b-r setup, and it allows me to get some power tube overdrive at a reasonable volume, but pushes 2x12 worth of air. I also have a Palomino V32 1x12 that I like alot as well. Anyway, I just called M123 and they refunded the difference in price based on the MF sale prices.

If anyone wants a pretty cool EL84 based amp at a stupid cheap price, this is it. Also, the V33 head is very cheap at MF, and the 2x12 cabinet is only $119.00. A nice combo for little $$ would be the V18 112 and the 2x12 cabinet for less than $275.00 today.

I'm wondering if I pulled the trigger to fast! I got the V32 and V33 mixed up. I'm always reading on here how great the V32 is but haven't seen much on the 33. Did I mess up?

I just picked up the V33 2x12 and the V18 2x12 (the 1x12 is not in stock and it says they'll have them in 32 days, but experience tells me that they never will have them). Supposedly both in stock.

So, the V33 is supposed to be like an AC30 and the V18 is supposed to be like a Marshall 18 watt combo?

I just changed my order and got the V33 head instead of the combo. I figured I'll used my Avatar 2X12 instead of the ****** stock speakers I'm sure the combo comes with.

For those that prefer the older V30 (same as V32 palominos?) You can do a BIN on ebay using the 25%off going through msn live search. Its $344 with free shipping but with the 25% rebate its about $260. Compared to the V33 most reviewers prefer the V30 but it seems most like the V33 anyway. Also its supposed to be lighter and there are mods to make it more like the V30/32. If they still had the V18 112 I'd probably be getting it too.

    I called Music 123 and got a credit of $50 for my V18 2x12!

FWIW the V18 2x12 sounds pretty damn good for less than $200 bucks.

Just picked up the V18 myself. $150 is SICK!@!! Just sold off my boring old BJ for $260 so this is a profit deal. Hey, on that other insane deal on the 2-12 bottom for $119, anybody know what they're loaded with? I assume not the 70/80's that went in the Pal bottom. Are these just some made-for-Crate-for-10-cents-by-coolees garbage PRC drivers?

BTW, thanks for the heads up, guys! I knew this site was good for something other than pissing me off that I couldn't afford these $5,000 amps that everybody else buys before breakfast! At $150 I can buy 5 and set up a 5.1 surround system at the gig.

Just placed an order for another Crate through Music 123 for the V18 2X12. I got the head coming from MF, whichever one sounds the best I'll keep. For the price I said screw it and might as well demo them at the house.

From where? MF is backordered and when they have these blowouts, the backorders usually never show up.

Is that right? I ordered one yesterday and the order went through. Got a receipt etc. then I got an email saying it's back ordered and they;d let me know when it shipped. Is it never going to get here?

That's been my experience on stuff like this. I ordered a 1x12 as well, so three amps in all. Crazy, I know. Cheap enough to try and use or flip or return or whatever.
