I had one I really dug but sold it due to a huge neck. Do all of them have baseball bat necks? Any cool models I should check out?

The standards have great necks. Not too fat at all. Perfect neck for me

Thanks for the posts. Anyone played an Angus sig model? It is supposed to have a slim taper neck

Classics and Standards have chunky necks. Specials are slimmer, as are 61RI's (perhaps the slimmest of the bunch? Haven't tried a Tribute yet).

Just as a point of clarity, the SG Specials before the Faded series started ~2002 or so had the same chunky necks as the Standards.

    61RI's are very slim.
My Special Faded has a baseball bat (which I enjoy)

Standards, Classics, and Fadeds all have big necks, the 61RI and the CS are smaller, about the same as each other, the Angus is a tiny bit smaller than the 61, and early 70's SG's have very thin and narrow necks.

Most SG's are thin in my experience. I have an older Angus Young Sig and it is very thin, and a CS '67 special with a thicker neck, but it's more what I would call medium thickness.

Personally I like a thick neck, but I also think neck shape is overated. That angus sounds great. A thick neck could make it top heavy with the SG's light body.

Just look on the gibson site, they will tell you if its running the fatter 50's neck or the slimmer, faster 60's neck.
