Why am I running a foot switch cable back to my amp and two guitar cables for the effects loop?

Why can't the foot switch have inputs for the effects loop so that there is only one cable going back to the amp?

What would be so wrong with that?

The other guitar player in my band has a custom setup with his footswitch cable and effects loop cable in a single bundle that he runs from his pedal board back to his amp (Fender Hot Rod Deluxe). Works great and speeds his setup.

Only potential issue I could see is some sort of cross talk from long cables running parallel. My blackface deluxe reverb footswitch line is sensitive to noise - has to be a shielded cable. But as long as it is shielded and properly grounded at one end, I've had no issues.

Build a little snake. And use 1 stereo cable for the loop. Then you have 1 bundle of 3 cables total.
