The downside was that half the guys in my school went out and bought harmonicas. Lunchtime became pure hell after that.

During the Gears sessions their visas were about to expire, too. Dowd also said he watched the roadies hauling all their stuff in and thinking "I thought there was only 3 guys in this band?"

Fantastic album. I remember when it came out. Learned a lot of licks off of that one. Still listen to it on a fairly regular basis.

A masterpiece, and one of my favorite albums of all time. Clapton and Baker are awesome, of course, but Bruce demonstrates what an incredible talent he is. His vocals, writing, keyboards, cello and bass playing are all just brilliant.

My favourite album of all time, sitting on top of the world is my highlight from the studio recording, spoonful from the live. Cream at its peak for sure...

I only wish that Clapton would still play with guys who'd push him the way jack and ginger did, and the way duane did in Derek and the dominoes... IMO that's when the magic happens ;)

While I enjoyed the Cream reunion, seeing Jack was the highlight for me.

Never got to see them. Saw Jack and Ginger with some other guitarist once, can't remember his name. What a killer rhythm section those two were. Ginger is in a class by himself.

Not in person, in the videos.

Heck with ticket prices I would have to work a 2nd job for that.
IIRC they were a wheelbarrow full of Gold.....for the cheap seats.

There's a great video on Netflix where Ginger talks about the stage volume getting out of control. Something like "we would ask Jack to turn down so he'd get pissed and turn it up, then Eric would get pissed and HE'D turn it up".

I wore the grooves off of that release.

The arrangement of "Sittin on top of the World" is stellar. Talk about good use of dynamics.
