V2 is much better...so i've read in many places. I have V2 and it's great. I think V1 had volume issues, as in too loud or something.

there's lot's of CB owners here but how can anyone answer your question unless they've owned both versions. Not many people will have done that so just get the V2 red one

None, I had v1 and now have v2, theyre different but none are better,
I prefer v2 for the different volume sweep and internal prescence control.

Open it up and look inside to see if there is a trimpot. If there isn't, then it's V1. If there is, V2.

I have a version 1 and think it does great Marshally distorted tones in my rig.

I have V1 and have never heard a reason to change. It's a loud pedal but the sweep seems fine to me.

I've had both and they pretty much sound the same to me.

problems with V1 were the lack of top end. The tone knob had a limited range and so you couldn't get brighter sounds with it or use it well with darker amps.

the other problem was the sweep of the volume knob. unity was around 10:00 but if I'm not wrong both versions are just as loud at maximum. V1 actually gives you more control on the volume range past unity so I never saw this as a problem. It was more of a problem for players who said they would nudge the knob while playing live and get a huge volume jump. (this doesn't make much sense to me since you actually have more control with v1)

Hey Cary, I was in the first stampede to get a VI CB, and when the revisions came out, a lot of players sent theirs back down under to be upgraded by Mike.

But I didn't, because I was real happy w/it the way it was (I play thru' black/brownface Fenders, get most of my OD tones from pedals). I'm pretty sure I read a few posts back then from users who actually preferred the first version..

Still haven't sent EITHER of my Timmys back for the extra diodes, either..

I love my version 2. I moved the trimpot to the outside which gives it esentially 2 types of tone controls....very useful.
