I love my new crunchbox. just that. i hate the bass. its saggy. its flabby. whatever you call it. its a straight nono for chordword on the low E string!

Does mine have a problem or is it the nature of the pedal?

Anything like the cb that doesnt have the flabby bass? Or can i stack sth with it to stop the flabby bass.

My other drive is a Lovepedal Eternity(i tried stacking, didnt help)

Guit is a MIM HSS strat. Standard series.

Amp is a fender frontman 15g(yes cheapo piece of crap i know. ive been working on buying pedals so much i neglected my amp. getting a new one soon...)

Any ideas?

It's not the pedal. Probably not your guitar, either. The CB is even tight through my VOX AC15!

Idea for you: Turn DOWN the bass control on your amp.

The CB didn't seem flabby in the bass to me when I had mine. I sold mine because I couldn't stand the mid-range hump.

It's a really tight sounding pedal, so I don't think the CB is the issue (unless it's broken).

mm. i was considering a ac15, but its stinking heavy! Im not the biggest person around, not the weakest either, but the idea of lugging a 21kg amp to sch for gigs and other venues does not please me. :D

I have a friend who has an AC30, he says its more versatile, with more options but its very very very heavy. And it'd take me quite awhile to afford one.

Ill try the pedal out tomorrow after school then.

Dave, do you use it for rythm work? Heavy chording with palm muting and stuff like that? I got the crunchbox mainly for my more rock-ish stuff.

Mines tight as hell...I use it for Maiden type stuff. Very articulate pedal IME.

I know I always kept the gain around 10:00. Live thats more than enough gain for me and it kept it tighter.

Whenever I plug my Crunchbox in, I'm always pleased with how tight the bass is. I had a Box o Rock, that I got rid of because the bass was a little too loose for my liking. Never's been a problem with the CB though.

i have always found the bass of my CB very tight.

try the gain at 1:00 or lower... higher than that and it seems that the bass becomes less tight

also, it could be tha amp settings, or the pickups...

I too find the bass of the CB tight as well. play around with different settings, especially turning down the gain.

what volumes are you playing at? Have you tried it live? I would suggest that you try out other amps.

bass is tight but I only use it with bridge position for rhythms.
normal settings for me are vol 10-11 oclock, tone 11 oclock, gain 1-3 oclock, into a totally clean amp.
is the bass tight in your clean sound before you add the crunchbox?

Currently bedroom volume.

Yeah, im going to try it out with other amps soon.

My amp is totally clean as well. Most of my knobs are at 11/12/1 o oclock.

yes iirc it was tight.

Try a Ocd or a Fetto... that'll fix it. Even a Keeley DS-1.

I had some similar complaints bout the CB. Bass was a little loose.. for me.

I use mine through a Marshall AVT50 head and a 1960 Quad. I have it through the clean channel with the volume maxed and the gain used to control volume. The bass on the head is maxed out too. I use no more than 1.00 gain on the pedal and dial in volume and tone to taste. I find that the bass is tight and the overall sound excellent, just what I was looking for considering the **** amp I play through. If the pedal can make a Valvestate sound good it must be good.

Don't know if anybody has already mentioned this but if it's a version 2 Crunchbox perhaps adjusting the internal presence trimmer would help??? I wouldn't know because I have the version 1 Crunchbox and the bass is tight.

Its version 2. I got if off a pal of mine who adjusted the trim pot according to him. to suit his strat, which is an sss. so that could be the problem.

yepp. new amp is next definately.
