I'm wondering, other than the Fender Vibro-King, what amps have a three-knob reverb (dwell/mix/tone) built in the front end before the EQ stage. Others also have tremolo?

I'm not exactly sure where it is in the signal path, but the Fender Dual Professional has the same feature. Also, the newer Bruno UG30's have those controls on the front as well.

The new Tone King Meteor II has the multi knob verb and tremelo. Not sure on the placement related to the circuit though.

I have seen it on Allen old flame....

So what do the extra Tone and dwell features do?

Could someone give me an example?

The Tone adds brightness to the wet signal (and a little gain in my '65 Reverb Unit's case). The Mix knob is the key - it blends your effected signal with the dry signal. You can dial in a huge amount of reverb with the Dwell and add to taste, or vice-versa.

Everything Dick Dale ever played went through a 3-knob reverb unit - I start there...

Not positive if the input signal hits the reverb first like Bruno's UG30 and the VK, but here is the text from Tone King's website:

"This circuit is inspired by the classic standalone reverb units used to create the over-the-top reverb sounds heard on surf records from the '60s. In fact, this circuit operates in much the same manner as a standalone unit, rather than like a typical in-the-amp reverb circuit."

Allen amps and Uncle Spot amps have that feature.

A coincidence a year out of time. See the date of Wayne's note.......
Take a look at Clark too.

    Best, Pete.

    Thanks again, folks.
While the original thread was a while back, it's nice to re-visit.
In recent years I've found my Achilles Heel was a nice clean tone - have some fine overdrive amps... Plus the versatility of things like the Lovepedal Eternity into a clean amp have me re-evaluating some...
While I really dig the cleans of old Hiwatt and Orange heads, it would be nice to move towards a more portable combo w/ reverb and trem possible.
Leaning somewhat in the Matchless/BadCat direction...

Man, I played the new ac30 this week for the first time. I came away really impressed. It has a 2 knob verb (mix and tone) with a switch for high and low dwell drive. It sounded as good as almost any ac30 I've ever played and had the nice verb and trem. Its pretty cheap too(relatively speaking), and I'm really intrigued by the fact they have a 1x12 version.

I played a Bruno UG30 combo this week at UltraSound, had Dwell/Tone/Mix(i think?). Man oh man, what a great sounding amp!

The Dual Professional has the reverb ahead of the preamp, just like the Vibro-King.
