The Clean: '66-67 Fender Princeton Reverb into a blonde Mystik Cabs 1x12 closed back & ported cab loaded w/ EVM 12L.

The Mean: Reinhardt V50/Storm one off...a V50 with the added gain stage of a Storm tubed with NOS Mullards into an Avatar Vintage 4x12 loaded w/ Celestion G12H's and V30's in an "X" pattern. Pretty damn happy with it.

Goodsell 17 MkII, clean, turn up guitar volume, mean. Simplicity, in it's elegance.

I was surprised to see myself a couple of posts in! Wow, 5 years went by very quickly.

BTW, I still have the Goodsell, but my Z's are at the top of the rotation lately.

Yeah Mike, up from the grave. Everything in that pic is gone but the Avatar cab. Really sounds great no matter what head I run through it. I did sell it but recently bought it back!

In the spirit of the OP!
    Clean: Carr Impala
Mean: bc audio amp no. 8
I'm really surprised how well the tones compliment each other. The bc audio's overdrive almost sounds like an extension of the Carr. Probably in part that they both have 5881 power tubes... Both amps have fantastic masters so they work for any room.
Now if I can only find a way to keep both!

Necro thread? Ah been a while, but nice to know we can still come up with some new terminology on TGP, LOL.

My favorite "clean to mean" is when you can get it all from one really responsive amp. I get my favorite cleans to means from a number of old Supro amps, like the old 1624T, the 1688TN, the 1695T, 1690T. Fantastic cleans, great overdrive, right from your guitar volume knob and right hand. As for modern amps, I'm really diggin the models I've tried from Reason--the SM40 and Grande. While they have different channels, I'm diggin using their "stack mode" and guitar volume knob + right hand technique.
