I found this page which has some pics of both the Custom Audio and
    Bogner Cube 1x12 cabinets.
    http://entertainment.webshots.com/album/361293095mUtwRm

Is it a coincidence that both cabs look the same or does CAA and Bogner share a same outside source cabinet builder? If so, does anyone know
the name of the company or builder of these 1x12 cabs?

    Any info is greatly appreciated.

Those look pretty identical for the most part don't they?

I remember reading a post here that stated they are in fact the same. The same post also mention the VHT 1x12 closed back cab as coming from the same builder. Things may have changed since then as it was a few years back as I recall.

They are built by the same supplier, but they are not identical in dimensions, if my memory serves me, they are up to 3/4" difference on them. The Bogner's logo acts kind of like a Beam Blocker which cuts down on the ice pick highs when standing in front of them.

I believe the same company makes cabs for Bogner, Diezel, VHT, CAA, and probably several others. Aren't they called Pacific CabinetWorks or something?

Yes they are Avatars. I have them loaded with a Celestion Claasic 80 in one and a Mesa C90 in the other. Both cabs have oval port in the back. They sound big, they do have good amount of bass, which they should being as large as they are. build quality is great, the only thing is The pictures on the website didn't show that it would come with screws holding the speaker grill on. According to Avatar they changed it so that the grills don't rattle or fall off. The Avatar cabs are a great value.

    Hey guys,

Thanks for the replies and info. I'm really getting more curious about
the builder of the 1x12 cabs. I emailed Avatar, as guitardr suggested, and I'm currently waiting for a reply.

Grooveking has a nice selection of cabs!! Thanks for posting the pic.

Hmmm, SgtThump mentioned Pacific CabinetWorks. I googled the name and it brought up a company who makes kitchen & bath environments for families and builders in California. Could anyone confirm that this is or is not the mystery builder of all the 1x12 cabs?

Any other guesses as to who it might be? Just wondering if they might offer cabs under their own name (OEM).

    Thanks again

    Thanks hongsta.

Looks like the mystery is solved!!
I've never heard of Basson until now. Don't know how it slipped by me
    all these years.
I checked out the Basson web site and the b112 guitar cab does resemble the Custom Audio and Bogner 1x12's. It's also about half the price as well.
If the builder at Basson makes the cabs, the next questions are,

Does anyone here own or had a chance to hear the Basson b112 loaded with a Celestion V30 in person?
If so, what's your opinion on it's tonal and build quality?

Also, has anyone compared the Basson to the CAA or Bogner 1x12 cabs? If Victor at Basson builds them, are there any tonal differences that are changed in the design for each company's model or are all three basically the same cab with just different name plates?

Would anyone here recommend the Basson as a less expensive alternative
choice to the CAA and Bogner 1x12 cab?

Thanks again for all the info!!

Do the Basson have ports? The Bogners & CAA have 2 ports each, Basson list air tight cabinets. The CAA don't have 1-1/4″ reinforcements in their corners. So I am not sure they make the other brand cabinets.

I'm also wondering about this so I emailed Basson and asked them about their cabs and the ports.
    Still waiting for their reply.

The Basson on are about 3" deeper than the Bogner or CAA cabinets.

How is the mystery solved? What makes you think Basson builds the cabinets for CAA, Diezel, Bogner, VHT, etc...? I've heard it was Pacific Cabinetworks OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT for years.

Sorry about that. I think I was a little premature in stating the mystery was solved. I'll have to retract my statement for now or at least until I get a confirmed reply from Basson. I also contacted Suhr so hopefully their info can put an end to the hunt for the unknown builder.
SgtThump, is this the same Pacific Cabinetworks you are talking about?

Oh, I really don't know firsthand or anything. Just saying I've heard that from several people online for years. I do suspect it's the same place that makes all of these cabs, but I'm not sure if I got the name exactly right OR if it's the same place that does kitchen cabinets/furniture. It makes sense that it COULD be the same place, though.

OK first off, i need to correct the mis-information that is being spread in the post.

The CAE cabs are/were NOT built by Victor at Basson. They were built by a guy named Victor, but a totally different guy with his own woodworking company. He built cabs for several boutique amp builders.

The CAE 1x12 and 2x12 were designed by John Suhr.

    Thanks for your reply.

Yep, I just got a reply from Basson and they said
this regarding the CAA and Bogner cabs - We are NOT affiliated, nor do we manufacture for other brands

Based on your info, could it be Victor Duardo of Marvics Musical Enclosures???
