More to come on this incredible hunk of Korina and Quilt/Flame Maple...
Should be shipped this week, the builder told me that the sparkle is much more pronounced in person, the volume and tone controls are being changed to chrome too
Just wanna add that Ron Thorn is a proper legend.
That may likely be the understatement of the day!
So close... I can actually touch it. NGD post to follow.
A NGD post would be awesome. I have #2 of this series coming my way and would love a preview!
Just ordered two Hartungs. Woo hoo.
Nice! I'll get the NGD post up a little later today. It arrived on Friday but between work and helping a mate move house I haven't had more than a moment to take some pictures and look it over. Honestly, I got a little distracted just looking it over! It's flawless.
Here's a progress shot of an old school Artisan Master SFC by Mr. Thorn. I should have it in about a month, can't wait!
Ordered Kiesel #2 last week...
Sort of an attempt at getting vintage(ish) tones with modern playability.
Vader headless with their new trem system which is supposed to be pretty awesome... similar capabilities and stability to a floyd, but with fewer headaches since it's a headless - tuners are already at the bridge and no locking nut.
Goldtop finish with a birdseye maple board, will look very simiilar to this guitar, except mine will have black dot inlays, a black logo, and I opted for EVO Gold frets.
However, instead of their typical modern aggressive humbuckers I'm getting their most vintage spec singlecoils in an SSS configuration. Alnico V magnets... sound clips (admittedly on a bolt-on instrument) are very Fenderish.
I also opted for a couple of additional switching options... in addition to the typical 5-way switch, it'll have a mini-toggle that allows adding the bridge in any position (So I can do B+M+N and B+N), and a push-pull on the volume knob to flip the phase.
The Yaron '54 Pre-Production Strat has arrived. I've played it for hours until my fingers hurt. It sounds incredible, looks amazing and plays like a dream. I'm really blown away, the strat type I have been looking for for years and years. I'll start a proper NGD thread when I get back but I leave for Vancouver (salmon fishing) at zero dark thirty for a few days. It has Gil's headstock and logo which also look great.
Here are a few pics from Gil's bench...
I'm no longer waiting on the Bob Thompson dread. Loud and powerful mofo.
I’m in queue for a MotoAve BelAire.
Josh Williams Stella model!!
Thanks. I took a chance on this build. I asked the Acoustic Guitar Forum if anyone had experience and I got crickets. Saw some killer sound clips on Youtube and managed to track down one of the guys in the clips for some feedback. I originally found his guitars while doing a little research on torrified acoustics.
The guitar exceeded expectations and was probably the fastest build I have ever had, which is impressive considering that it's an acoustic. The price wasn't bad considering the bevel and inlay work. Hoping to order an OM from him next year.
^ That is wicked cool.
I am no longer waiting on my Shishkov DC Model. I drove up to CT and picked it up from Mike on Friday. I've had a tough time putting it down - it's unbelievably great!
