I started saving for a custom Stratocaster. Who would you recommend?
Danocaster if you want vintage specs. Non better IMO. But there are many fantastic builders out there. Nash, Ron Kirn, Suhr, K-Line, Fender Custom Shop, etc.
I've been extremely happy with my Fender Custom Shop Strat.
I have a dano telecaster its is vice guitar. I have a Fender custom shop Nocaster tele in my opinion is better than the dano but its also more money. I was wanting some input from other owners. I know that there is a lot of builders out there. thanks
Suhr or Mike Lowe?
If you want something with a few modern improvements, you have Tom Anderson or Suhr.
USA Custom Guitars Body and Neck. Have It made to any spec you want.
Musikraft would be my #2 choice. Its easiest but also the most expensive to get a 1 piece swamp ash body from Musikraft.
I just ordered 1 3 weeks ago.
Buy all of the Best Parts Available. In your Opinion.
Send it to Glaser Instruments in Nashville for complete Assembly, Set Up, and Plek.
Ive found the Main thing is to have the Best Body Neck connection. USACG and Musikraft are both excellent and consistent.
I bought Original 65-66 Strat Pickups and put in mine as well as the Ilitch noise reduction backplate. They now make a pickguard.
What's that fatso that's in Jacksonville? you know, the one with no hair... and a shop full of sawdust??
Ron Kirn < fat guy with a lotta sawdust...
Danocaster, or Nash for vintage and Suhr for modern. Or you could build your own. Get an MJT body, Warmoth neck and everything that you exactly want.
Bill Chapin has made the best stray I've ever played. It had a mahogany body, the tone had some girth to it, but it still quacked nicely. The lowdrag neck felt like a dream in the hand.
Michael Tuttle ain't too shabby either!
"lowdrag neck" please tell me what this means
lsl makes awesome playing strats.
How much are you saving?
Detemple and D'Pergo are both highly regarded if you can afford them, and if they are still taking orders.
Based on my own experience, i'd go with Suhr.
I have a K-Line s-style, and its my favorite guitar.
With a Grosh NOS, there a lots of options with the neck. It's all about the neck, man.
Who's hands would be good at bodies with custom scale lengths ?
You are about 30 minutes away from LSL's factory. You ought to visit one day. It was a great experience.
