Any of you guys ever get any custom transcriptions done? If so, who do you use to transcribe and what is the rough cost?

No. Say I wanted to get tablature of a Jimmy Herring solo, I'd send someone an MP3 and they'd transcribe it for me.

It's illegal.

Sure, it's done, but it's illegal.

There are fair use exceptions, but typically, for profit ventures are not covered under those exemptions.

To be honest, you'd learn a lot more if you learn to do it yourself. I find that I understand them better, I remember them better, I play them better, and I can take things from them to use on my own more easily when I figure it all out myself - not to mention the sense of accomplishment at being able to do it myself (even with very simple things).
