Does anyone know what warrants them getting these cool options over the US? Do these things not sell here? All three of those teles appeal to me more than anything I see over here in standard production.

They look very cool, but are you sure those are actual fenders? look at the squared edge near the input jack in the third link. I don't know a lot about teles, but that doesn't look normal.

Ishibashi is a trusted site. They are Fenders meant for their local market.

I wish they made them with something besides 7.25 (184mm) vintage radius. It is a non-starter for me.

You can! Just eat up the shipping and duty costs! If I go to Japan I'm definitely gonna bring a chunk of cash and buy a guitar there!

I believe that squared off bit is present on all Teles, I think the white binding just makes it look more pronounced on that guitar.

I really like the double black bound rosewood one.

Which isn't difficult, but yeah. FCS quality without the trumped up price.

I have a Japanese Jazzmaster Semi-Hollowbody, just like that except in a natural finish. My 3 Fender Japan guitars easily hang with my MIA and MIA Custom shop Fender stuff. In fact, I prefer them mostly.

CIJ they just seem get Fender better.

I have a CIJ Micawbre Tele, 1 piece ash body, 7lbs it kicks ass.

The Japanese are famous for doing Americana better than Americans. Thier respect/obsession with american blue jeans is a great example, they were way ahead of the curve when it came to boutique levis repros, to the point that Levis started making levi repros using japanese denim. :bonk

If I was at the custom shop I would try and copy everything CIJ does.

you know what else is crazy? (aside from me owning a wonderful MIJ Lefty Jaguar)

for some reason, i've not heard a band from Japan with a bass tone i didn't like. i mean, a bulk of their musicians have that low-end tone locked!

wow. that was totally off-topic. sorry!

How about this, fellas. Within a few months Tokai Tele and Strats will be available online in the USA at half the price of USA Fenders!

A gentleman who used to be a member here (;) ) will be selling them online direct in the USA.
Here is a link to the catalog.

Feel free to PM me with any questions and I can hook you up with the man. These are GREAT guitars. I can't wait.
