I find the neck pickup on newer reissue Dano's too dark for my taste. Has anyone removed the tone knob from just the neck pup? Will that work? Is there something I'm overlooking? How are you doing? How's the job going?

Yes, that would help. Any decent tech could do it.

Another trick I use is to add a 330pf cap across the hot and ground of the bridge pickup. This darkens the tone slightly without ruining it, so it balances better tonally with the neck pickup.

If you have these mods done, be sure to re-adjust pickup heights to balance the volume.
